Complete Energy Consultancy was formed in 2013 by Richard Britton. Richard’s previous role was that of a Building Surveyor mostly dealing with Building Control. This background gave has given him a solid and practical knowledge of building and a clear focus on client requirements & expectation.
The Company has developed and grown over the years to offer a wide & complementary suite of services.

I’m a building energy consultant with a focus on delivering practical solutions that improve how buildings perform. My work is centred on helping clients reduce energy consumption, lower carbon emissions, and meet increasingly complex sustainability and compliance requirements.
With experience across both new developments and existing buildings, I take a holistic approach—looking beyond calculations to understand how a building is actually used and how it can perform better in the real world. I’m particularly interested in bridging the gap between design intent and operational performance.
As part of a small consultancy, I work closely with clients at every stage of a project. I value clear communication, transparency, and tailoring each solution to the specific needs of the brief rather than relying on standard approaches.
I’m driven by the challenge of creating buildings that are not only efficient and compliant, but genuinely better places to live and work—and by the opportunity to contribute to a more sustainable built environment.

Director
Educated to degree level BSc (Hons) Building Surveying with 25 years experience in the construction industry. Richard has worked as a Building Control Surveyor in both public and private sectors.
He is qualified as an OCDEA, air tightness tester & acoustic tester.
Outside of work he mostly spend time with his family and many animals! He also enjoys running & fitness in general.
Ian
Senior Consultant
Worked for 39 years in the I.T. Industry, including Support, and at one time even teaching architectural C.A.D. to budding builders and architects, before moving to the building industry direct just over 4 years ago.
Outside of work he, reluctantly, spends time doing tech support for friends and family but still spends a lot of time with computers and micro electronics.
Jeff
Test Engineer
Retired from fire service and Stroud District Council Jeff was at a loose end, he decided doing very little was not what he wanted to do.
Being passionate about energy efficiency has made him a good fit for Complete Energy and now does the on-site testing.
Being a ardent Spurs fan has, in no way, compromised his ability to work well with the Liverpool supporting rest of the team.!
